Møkkbiller omfatter kjente insekter som tordivler og gjødselbiller. Totalt er det funnet 81 arter i Norden, hvorav 48 er påvist i Norge. Dette er en insektgruppe som har fascinert mennesket siden tidenes morgen, men også i dag er dette svært viktige insekter både gjennom deres nytteverdi som nedbrytere og som modellorganismer for å forstå naturen. Mange møkkbillerarter er dessverre truet eller har forsvunnet fra våre områder som følge av endringer i landbrukspraksis.
Boken passer både for nybegynnere og eksperter og er rikt illustrert med flotte stacking bilder av alle arter, samt deres naturlige miljø. Den har en omfattende allmen del på drøyt 70 sider med up to date informasjon om de fleste aspekter omkring møkkbiller. Artsomtalene dekker 2-3 sider per art med nordiske kart over utbredelse som skiller mellom ulike tidsperioder. En rikt illustrert nøkkel til alle arter finnes også.
